Beneath the scorching Saudi sun blazing on the factory’s steel structures, our automotive coating piping installation project won the award for "Outstanding Performance in Maintaining Health and Safety Standards" presented by the client. As the medal was solemnly handed to our team, we together witnessed the glory of perseverance and responsibility. This honour is not only the highest recognition of the project’s achievement of zero safety incidents, zero personnel injuries and zero equipment damage, but also a powerful tribute to the craftsmanship and commitment of all builders, who embed safety into every inch of pipeline.

Automotive coating piping installation is a contest against high risks. The workshop pipelines, ranging from stainless steel pipes conveying flammable and combustible electrophoretic paint, seamless steel pipes carrying high-temperature hot oil, to anti-corrosion pipes handling toxic VOC waste gas, act as "industrial blood vessels". The welding quality, installation accuracy and protective measures of every pipeline are directly linked to personnel safety and production safety. The construction environment in Saudi Arabia further amplifies safety challenges for this "vascular project". The maximum temperature inside the workshop exceeds 50°C in summer, and the pipe surface temperature can reach 65°C, which may cause burns if adequate care is not taken. Piping work must be carried out on narrow elevated platforms with coating equipment to be installed underneath, leaving no room for negligence in safety protection. The client adopts German DIN safety standards, which differ from China’s GB standards in terms of protection distances, warning signs and emergency procedures. Every item requires re-adaptation and rigorous implementation.

From day one when the project team mobilized to the site, the principle that “Safety is not an optional question, but a mandatory one” has been etched into everyone’s mind. To uphold the bottom line of safety, we built a full-process and three-dimensional safety management and control system. Before construction kicked off, we carried out thorough risk screening and compiled the Safety Risk Map covering the location of risk points, hazard levels, prevention and control measures, and responsible persons. For the electrophoretic paint piping zone during construction, the “Three Pre-work Safety Checks” system was implemented: verify that protective gear is fully worn, confirm the working environment is risk-free, and ensure emergency equipment is functional. Work shall never start if any check fails. Safety officers arrive at the site early each day to inspect the guardrails of elevated work platforms and the wear condition of lifting appliances one by one. Even a single loose screw triggers an immediate work stoppage for rectification. As they often say, “The more careful we are with safety, the less worry our families will have.” This embeds the “Safety First” philosophy into every construction activity.

Today, the medal for "Outstanding Performance in Maintaining Health and Safety Standards" shines bright. Behind it stand every colleague persisting under high temperatures, every pair of hands carefully inspecting protective gear before welding, and every lamp lighting up late at night while safety plans are refined. This honour belongs to frontline construction workers, safety officers and technicians, to the company headquarters providing silent support, and most of all to our families who care about us. It is their understanding and support that allow us to safeguard safety with full concentration.

Safety has no destination, only continuous new starting points. Going forward, we hope all colleagues will continue to carry forward the project spirit of "respect for life and commitment to safety".
